The 3 Most Common Shoulder Injury Types

In order for your arm to rotate forwards, sideways, backwards, and upwards, the bone that fits into your shoulder socket has to be much smaller than the socket itself. The only thing holding that bone in place in a mix of muscles and tendons. This means if something happens to any of those parts–the bones, sockets, muscles, or tendons–your shoulder cannot work properly. This also means that any one injury can produce a number of problems, such as swelling, limited motion, pain, tissue tears, bone damage, even pinched nerves. The most common shoulder problems following an accident are:

  • Tendon damage (such as swelling or a tear)
  • Instability
  • Fracture
