The Christensen Law Firm Gives $100 Gift Card For Classroom Supplies

DRAPER, UT, March 28 – The School Supplies Gift Program, sponsored by Utah-based Christensen Law Firm, is pleased to announce that Mrs. Kathie Jorgensen, a first grade teacher at Rosamond Elementary, and Mrs. Kathy Wilkins, a first grade teacher at Sprucewood Elementary, are the next recipients of the Golden Apple Award.

Golden Apple Award Winner Kathie JorgensenMrs. Kathie Jorgensen’s 35 years of teaching can be accurately summed up in a favorite quote of hers: “To love what you do and know that it matters…What could be more fun!” This quote seems to be indicative, week after week, of the caliber of teachers nominated to receive this award—you are wonderful! Mrs. Jorgensen describes a life full of joy and happiness amongst children, thriving off of their, “light, energy, and desires to learn.” “Each experience has given me a chance to study new curriculums, interests, and cultures. I feel most fortunate to have been able to find a career that has allowed me to ‘do what I love’.”

Mrs. Jorgensen plans on using the OfficeMax gift card to purchase ink cartridges to allow her students to publish their own books, helping them meet the rigorous Reading and Language Arts standards set by their school district. With this money she may also be able to purchase additional binding combs for the books. We wish her and her students great success in this endeavor!

Mrs. Kathy Wilkins has been teaching the first grade for 28 out of the 30 years she has been teaching.  She said, “it doesn’t get any better than first graders learning how to learn. You get to see the “lights go on” as they begin to read and problem solve and write and learn to cooperate with each other.”  Because of her tenure, she is now teaching the children of “[her] first students.”  Her impact has truly been felt throughout her community and across multiple generations.

Mrs. Wilkins said of her use for the gift card, “I’d like to get a scanner for my first grade team. We create a lot of our own materials and we’d love to be able to store them in our computers.” Best of luck to you and your classroom!
