Christensen & Hymas Gives $100 Gift Card for Classroom Supplies
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DRAPER, UT, February 20, 2013 – The School Supplies Gift Program, sponsored by the Utah-based Christensen & Hymas Law Firm, is pleased to announce that Mrs. Claudia Peterson, a 1st grade teacher at Lone Peak Elementary School, and Ms. Staci Rodriguez, a 5th grade teacher at Highland Park Elementary School, are the next recipients of the Golden Apple Award.
Mrs. Peterson was nominated by two of her colleagues who said that Mrs. Peterson is “vigilant in analyzing each child’s needs and does everything possible to give them the successful experiences they need . . . all of her students know that they are loved.” One of the ways that Mrs. Peterson effectively teaches her students is by providing fun prizes as incentives for class participation which also leads to a lot of excitement. Her nominators also added that Mrs. Peterson “encourages parent involvement and believes that parents are an integral part of their child’s education.” Her love and patience help her students to believe that they are capable of doing anything.
Mrs. Peterson teaches a Chinese immersion program to two classes. Because of this, she is responsible for 59 students. Her lessons are always well-organized and structured which helps her cover all the material she is responsible to teach. Her lesson plans typically involve fun “center ideas” that require Mrs. Peterson’s personal time and money to make. It is evident that her students are in very able hands. We applaud Mrs. Peterson for her efforts as a dedicated teacher and friend.
Ms. Rodriguez’s nominator was very enthusiastic in her affirmation of Ms. Rodriguez as a very deserving teacher. She said that Ms. Rodriguez “goes above and beyond to take care of her students and teach them.” She works very hard for her students. Her nominator said that she “plans endless activities in science class and finds ways to engage each of her 29 students in both math and language arts as well.” In this way Ms. Rodriguez is able to make every subject fun and interesting because of the time and dedication she puts into planning each lesson. The quality of her classes is undoubtedly due to, as her nominator said, the way she “finds ways to incorporate technology into each of her lessons and capture the attention of every student.” The nominator, who works with Ms. Rodriguez, certainly has an immense amount of respect for her. Of Ms. Rodriguez she said, “[Ms. Rodriguez] is one of the best teachers I have ever seen.”
Ms. Rodriguez spends a lot of her own money on all of the projects and activities that she does. She has purchased science supplies, art supplies and books out of her own pocket so that her students will have everything that they need to succeed. Ms. Rodriguez also seeks out opportunities on her own time, and at her own expense, to learn new ideas to help her teach her students. We at Christensen & Hymas praise Ms. Rodriguez for the diligence, love, and energy she puts into her teaching.
