Christensen & Hymas Gives $100 Gift Card for Classroom Supplies
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DRAPER, UT, January 09, 2012 – The School Supplies Gift Program, sponsored by Christensen & Hymas, is pleased to announce that Ms. Taralyn Timothy, a 1st grade teacher at East Lake Elementary School, and Ms. Joanie Calton, a TLC and French teacher at Butler Middle School, are the next recipients of the Golden Apple Award.
Ms. Timothy’s nominator said, “Taralyn is a wonderful teacher and is constantly trying to improve and better her classroom and her techniques for the benefit of students and parents!” The several years Ms. Timothy has worked at the school has proved impactful. The nominator continued, “Taralyn is excellent at communicating with parents and using technology to help the children learn and to help parents as well.” The love and mutual friendship is apparent and applauded.
Ms. Timothy teaches a dual immersion program with two sets of students in conjunction with a Chinese teacher. Because of this, she is responsible for 52 students. They are certainly in good and capable hands. We applaud Ms. Timothy for her efforts as a teacher, friend, and mentor.
Ms. Calton’s nominator had much to say to affirm the fact that Ms. Calton is a very deserving teacher. Ms. Calton works very hard for her students. Her nominator said that she “often has students coming in after school for extra help, and is always at school late into the evening, carefully grading her student’s work.” One student, who had Ms. Calton for TLC and French said they were the “best classes ever.” The quality of her classes is undoubtedly due to, as her nominator said, the way she “treats her students with respect” and her “willingness to help.” She gives every assignment she grades her full attention, giving her students the feedback they need to improve their work. The nominator, who works with Ms. Calton, certainly has an immense amount of respect for her. Of Ms. Calton she said, “[Ms. Calton] often has her past students come visit, which is a testament to her devotion to her students.”
Ms. Calton’s teaching excellence can easily be recognized by the response her students have given on the teacher rating site ratemyprofessor.com. One student wrote that she “loved Ms. Calton’s TLC class” because she “learned so many facts about safety and health.” But Ms. Calton does not just recite facts; the student noted that in her class she teaches by assigning “many different but fun projects” that make the learning experience something to look forward to. Ms. Calton definitely puts her heart into what she does and it shows. We at Christensen & Hymas praise Ms. Calton for her diligence, love, and energy she puts into her teaching.
