About Bangerter Highway
According to AA Roads, this highway “varies between arterial and expressway standards, with interchanges and continuous flow intersections implemented throughout the 24.319-mile course.” It is named after the 13th Governor of Utah, Norman H. Bangerter, who was a long-time resident of West Valley City. As a result, he supported the highway project because of the alleviating traffic congestion along the west side of the Salt Lake valley.
Furthermore, Bangerter Highway opened between 5400 South and 4700 South in West Valley City on September 17, 1993. Costs to build the roadway at that point totaled $70 million. Since there has been construction from 3100 South to 7000 South.
2017’s top project will build five freeway-like interchanges on Bangerter Highway over the next two years. The $249 million projects will be completed in late 2018.
