Commuter Resources
Utah Transit Authority’s TRAX and FrontRunner in addition to existing bus lines have greatly enhanced the ability of cyclists to commute greater distances which are frequently required for the average Utah commuter. UTA has a fantastic page with information for commuting cyclists, including lockers available at TRAX stations ($30 deposit and $70 per year). As part of our effort to reach out to motorists, government officials, and other interested parties, we created the Utah Bicycle Commuting Statistics infographic to illustrate the growth and breadth of the commuter cycling community in Utah. In the period between the 2000 and 2010 United States Census, bicycle commuting grew at a national average of 47%, with cycling in Salt Lake County alone nearly doubling its number of cyclist commuters. Many employers have started to embrace cycling commuters by installing bicycle “parking” areas for lockup or even space for cyclists to keep bicycles inside their buildings. Bicycle Friendly America recognized 8 Utah employers in 2010 for being bicycle-friendly employers.

Our goal is to provide resources to cyclists, including our updated calendar of bicycling events in Utah. Subscribing to this calendar maybe helpful as you make decisions about participating in events around the state. If you’d like to see calendar events on your Google Calendar, use the subscribe button at the bottom of the calendar. You can customize your subscription by customizing the calendar view. If you want to see only road races, deselect other categories so only road races display.
