Utah Road Trips: 5 Great Options

The beauty of Utah’s natural wonders may be unmatched anywhere else. From canyons of red rock to snow-capped mountains, a beautiful drive or hike is never too far away. When driving in Utah, sometimes the journey can be just as rewarding as the destination. We’ve discovered several Utah road trips we love. In this post, we share some of our favorites.

Best Utah Road Trips: Our Favorites

Scenic Byway 12

This drive covers 150 miles of beautiful red rock and state parks across Southern Utah. Starting in Panguitch and ending in Torrey, this beautiful drive takes some time to enjoy. This road trip also features worthwhile detours to great parks like Spooky Gulch or Burr Trail Road.

The Road to Adventure

Some call Moab the “Adventure Epicenter.” In this city, you can drive jeeps down thrilling trails, hike the world-famous Arches National Park, mountain bike, golf, ride horses, or float down the river. This beautiful 4-hour trip south from Salt Lake will not disappoint.

The Wasatch Range

Experience Utah’s pride and joy — its mountains — up close. This trip covers 300 miles of the Wasatch Mountains, and it may seem tempting to do it all at once. However, if you stretch the drive across three days, you will have plenty of time for hiking or biking in the mountains. This time of year is perfect to enjoy the foliage and cool air!

World’s Longest Art Gallery

This is a great drive for the whole family! It’s called the “World’s Longest Art Gallery” because of its many ancient drawings, beautiful rock formations, fossils, and Anasazi artifacts. It is rich in beauty and history. If your family loves to bike, take a little extra time to check out the San Rafael Swell, famous for its mountain biking.

The Top of Utah

Sometimes it seems like Southern Utah gets all of the credit for Utah’s natural beauty, but there’s a lot to be explored in the north, as well. This fall, watch migratory birds cross the sky and head south for the winter. Then, as you drive, savor the taste of fresh fruit from Utah’s Famous Fruit Way.
